Cleveland - a day trip

So that nice weather I spoke about in the previous post didn't last long and the days stayed grey and rainy and horrible for months afterwards. But yesterday....well, put it this way:

This make up melted off halfway through the day:

Yesterday was beautiful, and as we had planned, we went to Cleveland to see Forks Over knives, because it wasn't (yet?) playing here and I really didn't want to miss my chance at seeing it. So off we went:

Leaving for cleveland

A friend of ours lives in Cleveland and wanted to see the movie, so she picked us up from the megabus stop (megabus is awesome btw, super cheap fares, check it out!: www.megabus.com) and we hung out all day into the evening when it was time to go home. First we had lunch because by this point we were all starving:

Jocelyn and I both got the Pad thai, and it was fab!

Then we headed over to the Phoenix cafe, which was a really cute little place.

The drinks were great, I got vegan coconut bubble tea, joey got a speedball shake. After that we headed over to the Cedar Lee to see Forks Over Knives.

this is the part where you enjoy goose friends, squirrel friends and 'those astrology guys' among other things:

Then we headed to dinner for Sushi and salads at:

I had an avocado salad and lots of sushi, they had sweet potato sushi which was fab, I totally forgot to take a pic of the massive sushi plate they brought out. :( Yum.

We all talked about changes we could make to our diet. Although all four of us were either vegan or veggie already, we knew that we weren't as healthy as we could be I guess. The movie's tagline, "This movie could save your life." is pretty spot on. You just can't unsee the things and info they provided. The main change we all agreed we could get behind was cutting out oils.

I really think that's the only truly unhealthy thing in my current diet.  We decided on steaming, grilling or roasting.

I love the creepy guy on the hanging pic behind cory.

Then it was time to wrap up the evening and get going. Said good bye to jocelyn and we f inally got a pic in some SHADE:

Then hopped back on the megabus and headed back to Pittsburgh:

"We don't quit playing because we grow old, we grow old because we quit playing." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes

Hi, this is just your friendly neighborhood blog welcome message.

So my bf, Joe_u and I have been talking about the fact that we've lived here in Pittsburgh for 12 years now, and there is so much about this city that we don't know or things that we've never done.

This is a waste because we do live in a fabulous, beautiful city. Couple this with the fact that we just hit our 30's and I've been spending a lot of time thinking about getting old, and what that means, specifically for us.

The happy couple. ;)

We have been together for 16 years. We're not married, don't plan to be and we're happily childfree and don't want kids, maybe not even a house. (Maybe? Not sure...) I think about both of our parents at our age and what they were doing with their lives in their 30's. We live our lives like our 20-something friends do and that's okay, but the people around us, our other friends more our age, are busy doing grown up things. They are busy buying houses and making babies and going back to school for that second phd or whatever they're doing. That is of course fine - and really, good for them if it's the life they want, but it's just not for us.

So, our newer friends keep getting younger, I suppose because their lifestyles are closer to our own. Anyhow, I think we've been in a funk, maybe it's because it's been the usual craptastic Pittsburgh winter weather, but now it's starting to get nice out again, we even went for a walk to the park the other day in hoodies! So nice out!

We're both on a mission to lose weight and get healthy, and we both feel the need to get out and do stuff and things, and things...and stuff. So, this is where we will journal our fun times. I never used to take pictures, and I suck at scrapbooking with paper and glitter. So, here is our virtual scrapbook, enjoy. :)
